Neurofeedback Therapy in Langley
What is Neurofeedback?
Dr. Michael Dadson (Mike Dadson), recognises “most people are not familiar with neurofeedback and the benefits it has on the brain and overall functionality”. Neurofeedback is the retraining and optimization of your brainwave patterns to help with overall processing and learning in order to improve overall neurological functioning.
Brainwave pattern targets are set to improve mood, control of emotions, self -regulation, reduce the feelings of anxiety, and enhance your ability to learn. Dr. Mike Dadson put this in simple terms, “when you learn how to control your brainwave patterns you can have better brain function through neurofeedback”. During the process, your only job is to let the LENS program examine your current brainwave activity and automatically adjust to the optimum positive neurofeedback you create. “It is like having a dislocated bone put back in place. There is relieve but with LENS it happens without the discomfort.”
Dr. Michael Dadson explains “our technician place small wires called electrodes on your scalp (there is no pain involved), that have a tiny metal disk attached”. An Electroencephalography (EEG electrical activity of your brain), is feed-back to a computer where it is processed to determine existing brain functioning and if you are meeting the desired targets for improved brain function. Dr. Dadson identifies further “the data is sent back to a computer program that quickly analyses your brainwave patterns. It shows you your existing pattern and automatically sends signal back to your brain so that it adjusts and responds to the desired improved brain function targets”.
Dr. Dadson notes, “research has shown we have the ability to change our brain patterns of thought to meet the desired targeted changes in brain which in turn improve specifically targeted and overall brain functioning”.
WhyYou Should Consider Neurofeedback Therapy
Dr. Michael Dadson (Mike Dadson) indicates “over many years research has proven the brain’s ability to make new biological connections allowing us adapt new neurological functions is known as neuroplasticity”. Today, research is demonstrating the effectiveness of neurofeedback therapy for treating various neurological and mental health issues such as depression, anger, trauma, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) concussions and other brain injuries.
In this video, Dr. Lawrence Hirshberg discusses the benefits of Neurotherapy on children, the adolescent brain, and why it is susceptible to neurofeedback training for emotional regulation.
Dr. Michael Dadson advised “there are no negative or lasting side effects from neurofeedback and the positive research indicates the dramatic benefits to some and those especially affected by mood or attention issues”.
